When we started our center here in a farming area a hundred kilometers north of the city of Bombay, we did not expect to find such a large portion of the population consumed by drug abuse and alcoholism. Of the young men who were initially enrolled in our prevention program, 90% of them reported that their family was financially devastated by their father's alcoholism. To prevent these young village men from following in their father’s footsteps our program was started. It is a Six-month program which includes:

1. Teaching the dynamics of alcoholism and drug addiction and how to avoid falling into its trap.
2. Teaching social skills that boost feelings of Self-Esteem.
   
3. Giving the villagers gainful employment even while doing the program, helping them to support their families financially.
4. Providing opportunities to acquire work skills that can help these young men to earn a better living.
